— Ol Pejeta, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha & the Maasai Mara
For the traveller who wants to experience the full breadth of Kenya's legendary wildlife without compromise, the Grand Wildlife Circuit is the definitive answer. Seven days, four iconic destinations, multiple ecosystems, and an extraordinary diversity of species. Beginning in Ol Pejeta with its unparalleled rhino conservation story, the circuit passes through Lake Nakuru's flamingo-fringed UNESCO heritage lake, the serene papyrus shores of Lake Naivasha and the exhilaration of cycling in Hell's Gate. The final chapter: three full days in the Maasai Mara, where lion prides, cheetah families and the vast Migration herds create a wildlife spectacle that cannot be overstated. This 7-day format strikes the perfect balance — enough time in each destination to truly know the landscape and its wildlife, with sufficient momentum to maintain the excitement of constant novelty.
Drive north from Nairobi through the Mount Kenya foothills. Cross the equator and enter Ol Pejeta Conservancy for an afternoon game drive. The conservancy's savanna and Ewaso Ng'iro riverine zone support large elephant herds, buffalo and the famous lion coalition.
Morning chimpanzee sanctuary visit, followed by a dedicated rhino tracking drive. Afternoon game drive through the conservancy. Optional evening visit to Sudan's memorial — the last male northern white rhino.
Drive south across the equator to Lake Nakuru National Park. Afternoon drive along the lake shore. The park's lions are among the most habituated in Kenya — often found sleeping in open clearings close to the road.
Morning drive to Lake Naivasha. Hell's Gate cycling safari — the only Kenyan park where you can ride bikes freely alongside zebras, warthogs and giraffes. After the cycle, descend through Ol Njorowa Gorge on foot. Afternoon private boat safari on Lake Naivasha.
Drive southwest from Naivasha through the Maasai pasturelands, entering the Mara via the Sekenani Gate. Immediate afternoon game drive. The Mara consistently delivers lion sightings within the first drive.
Sunrise drive at 06:00 AM. Full day dedicated to the Mara's extraordinary predator-prey dynamic. Cheetah hunts on the open plains, lion kills in the grassland, leopards draped over acacia branches. Midday bush picnic at the Mara River.
Last sunrise game drive before breakfast. Return drive to Nairobi with a scenic Rift Valley escarpment stop. Arrive Nairobi 4:00–5:30 PM.
